Dearest family and friends,
There are some weeks as a missionary that you really can’t sum up your week, you feelings, the things that Heavenly Father taught you, your relationships with your investigators, or your wonderful companionship in a weekly email home. So, just know that I’ll communicate it all to the best of my ability and I’m praying that the most important things will come out! 🙂
First of all, transfer news!
Tomorrow I leave Jyväskylä, my home in Finland and where I’ve served for the last 6 months for Kerava! It is down in the southern part of Finland close to Helsinki. (Nobody expected that one! But…it was the last guess I jotted in my journal the night before. 🙂 ) My new companion will be Sister Albiston from New York and she is the same “mission age” as Sister Yost. 🙂
AND for the biggest surprise of all…. Sister Yost is leaving Jyväskylä too! As we say as missionaries, she was a “bullet” through the area. Just one transfer here. But it was a good one! And full of miracles! She will be serving in Lahti (between Jyväskylä and Kerava) to finish the training of Sister Margetts.
Even bigger surprise….! Sisters will not be coming to take our place in Jyväskylä this transfer. There are simply not enough sisters to fill all of the areas at the moment, and the Lord has asked that Jyväskylä is the place that is temporarily closed down. But never fear! There will still be 4 Elders here. And they will take care of our area for the time being. 🙂
This call definitely came as a shock, but it is Heavenly Father’s will and after a bit of crying, lots of praying, and making multiple calls to ward members we saw the miracles of peace to our hearts and souls and the ward and Elders rallying around us and our precious investigators. It’s all going to go well this week!
Before the change call we saw the miracles of an investigator coming over to a member’s house with us for Family Home Evening after multiple weeks of asking, being led by the Spirit to an excellent tracting area when we didn’t know where to go, our investigator receiving a job here so she can stay after her baptism (so much more support for her here!), and so many more things I can’t even remember!
After the call we met with our investigator who is being baptized on Saturday and she was very shocked and sad, but her testimony is so great and she is still going to be baptized. I am so proud of her!
And as the latest miracles, President Watson has said he feels we need to back for the baptism because she needs us that day. We are so blessed.
I love you all and this is Jesus Christ’s true gospel!
